I found something missing when I got up this morning.
The sun was unfamiliar, the landscape incomplete.
Someone had removed that which he could not tame.
The wild flower was gone.
So were you.
Or maybe I could not see it,
The flower. Your presence.
The roots were severed, the cord broken.
Maybe it was gradual, the bonds could not survive the winds of change.
My heart tells me to blame the earth I walk on,
For such are the ways of life for those above it.
A steady, low beating of hearts,
Rhythmic denudation,
Marching towards nothing ness,
Away from insanity.
Away from instinct, and all that is passionate.
Marching away, like a big big giant.
I close my eyes to escape, and find a retreat.
The air had not changed. Your smell lingered.
I wrapped myself in the rains of memories past
So I could open my eyes and face the new sunshine.
I found you standing next to me. Unfamiliar, grey.
I lie to my senses. I tell them to not let go of the smell.
To hold on to the wildflower.
And I march away,
To nothingness.
